TRAVEL

If you feel that your child has progressed to a higher level and wants to play on one of our fine TRAVEL teams, please let us know. TRAVEL is just extra ball for those who are willing to make a commitment to have additional practice and games on Sunday (in some cases on Saturday) and to play in at least 3 tournaments over the span of many weekends. The Overlea tournament begins in May and because of the weather can carry over to 2 or 3 weekends. There is also the Rosedale Tournament in May. Then there is the Essex tournament that plays over two weekends, June 12, 13, 17 and 18. There are other tournaments that each manager can play in if they get commitments from their parents. Playing TRAVEL is an extra expense as well. Each manager will determine how much he will charge each player. Each TRAVEL player must purchase their uniform (unless they already have one from the previous year). I would estimate that the additional cost for travel is between $100 -150 per player. Each TRAVEL team must be self-supporting. You can obtain sponsors to help the cost of the team and may lower each child's cost for travel. This is something that the managers will talk to you about.

We expect to have a Travel team in each of the following age groups:

Boys Baseball:
7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14

There is a "TRYOUT" process for the travel players. They must "TRYOUT" for the team and the manager will decide how many players he wants to carry, which is usually in the neighborhood of 11 or 12 players. So there is the possibility that your child will not make the team. If we have enough players and enough managers, there is the possibility of having TWO TRAVEL teams in each age group.

If your child is interested in trying out, please email us and we will provide you with the name and phone number of the TRAVEL MANAGERS. At this time, we do NOT have a travel manager for each age group. If you are interested in managing a travel team, please email us.

Travel Tryouts are set for March 7 and March 14th. However, attending the Winter Workouts when the dates/times are posted, the travel managers will have an opportunity to take a look at your child and let you know if he thinks your child is at the level for travel play.

Travel teams do travel to other areas to play their games. Each year, we do not know exactly where you will be travelling to play your games, but they are mostly local areas and some Harford County fields--such as Middle River, Overlea, White Marsh, Rosedale, Hamilton, Dundalk, Watersedge, Carroll Manor, Forest Hill, Hickory, Emmorton, Joppatowne, Liberty Road, Pikesville. There is also the possibility that a Travel manager may want to put the team in an out-of-state tournament, or a Ripkin tournament.

Let us know if your child is interested in TRAVEL play. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email us.
