2010 Essex Express Baseball Father’s Day Summer Classic
The Essex Express Baseball/Softball Program will be holding their Annual Father’s Day Summer Classic tournament in June 2010. There are TWO divisions - the Recreation Division and the Open Division. Please note that the Recreation Div will play TWO weekends while the Open Division will play on Father’s Day weekend only.
In the Recreation Division - there is a 4 game guarantee. The first 3 games played during the first weekend of June 11,12,13 are for seating purposes. Everyone will return the second weekend of June 18, 19, 20. Depending on the number of teams, the top 8 teams will play for the championship with a single elimination format. The rest of the teams will play in the Consolation round with a single elimination format for medallions. This format is subject to change, depending on the number of teams in each division. Teams will be placed in either A or B division. (You will be contacted ahead of time to see if you team is available prior to the scheduling of any Friday night game.)
In the Open Division, - these games will take place only during Father’s Day weekend on June 18, 19, 20 (with the possibility of a Friday night game on June 18th). There is a 3 game guarantee. Championship game will be played on Sunday, June 20th . If there are not enough teams for a single age division, then the Tournament Director reserves the right to combine two age groups.

Friday, June 18th, Saturday, June 19th and Sunday, June 20th for Open Division only
Age Brackets Rec Div Baseball: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19 Divisions - A and B Division.
We reserve the right to move a team from an A or B division to another.
Open Div Baseball: U8, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U16, U19, U22
Baseball: May 1, 2010 determines age group.
Entry: All entries are due by June 6, 2010. The Rec Division is designed for teams who are participating in some type of in-house program during the spring of 2010 to be eligible. Open Division is open to all teams, including Club, American Legion, Metro, Mid-Maryland teams, etc. Proof of insurance required for teams other than Baltimore County teams.
Draw: Depending on the number of teams in a division, there will be a new setup for the draw this year in an attempt to make sure that teams that usually play each other during the spring will play teams in the tournament that they do not normally play. The draw will be via email but we will be available on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Essex Elementary School Activity Room, 100 Mace Avenue, Baltimore MD 21221 for anyone who wishes to ask questions, drop off their registration money and roster. Rosters and entry fees are due on that day. If teams are unable to attend the meeting, all information will be available via email and the website.
All managers or travel coordinator signatures on Rosters confirm adherence to all rules.
Entry Fee: $210.00 per team (this includes 1 doz of baseballs to be used during the tournament). Make checks payable to: Essex Baseball. Paperwork must be faxed or mailed prior to June 6, 2010 and all entry fees must be paid prior to their first game. There will be 1st and 2nd place team trophies and 15 individual trophies per team. In the consolation round there will be 15 medallions.
Umpires: Each team will be responsible for the umpire fees. Rates will be posted on internet.
